Spring wildflower and bird walk at the Matador Ranch
June 1, 8 AM- 12 PM
This is a great opportunity to see a variety of grassland spring wildflowers- penstemons, milkvetches, blanketflower and many more as well as native grasses. Additionally, there will be opportunities to learn about, hear, and see endemic grassland songbirds. If there is an interest we can also look at and learn how to ID grasses with vegetative characteristics. Easy to moderate hiking. The hike will take place at the Nature Conservancy’s Matador Ranch in Phillips County. Meet at the ranch bunkhouse at 745 AM. The Matador Ranch is located 35 miles south of Malta on Highway 191, turn east down driveway at mile marker 119. Optional: bring binoculars and hand lens Info: Kelsey 406 654-4566, kelsey.molloy@tnc.org
